[Discuss] Server Upgrades

Hi folks, The Dreaded Server Upgrade Time is here.  Actually we've 
already completed upgrading home.actlab and all seems well, but if 
you notice anything unusual please do let me know.  The upgrade 
includes installing the current stable distro (etch) and adding 
imap-ssl functionality so we can enable webmail for individual users 
on request.  At home, for mail clients I'm currently running the old 
reliable Eudora (closed source, APOP authentication, all mail on the 
local machine) simultaneously with the new Mozilla Eudora (open 
source, Thunderbird-like, SSL authentication, all mail on the server) 
to compare and contrast, as it were.  So far there are considerable 
differences, mainly that different messages get lost or never arrive 
depending on which client I use.:)

Next we'll upgrade laurel, then (very cautiously) donna, sandy and 
the other boxen except for hrdy, which will remain the pristine 
reference machine (I think it's still running a paleosystem like 
woody).
