[efh] used electronics

Josh,

I agree with Dan...I don't know of any other place in town where you 
can find surplus and used electronic parts besides Howard.  Another 
possibility is to get junked equipment from Discount Electronics and 
part it out.  This is a way to get small stepper motors and such 
(from printers).  Fry's sells only new stuff but they have a lot of 
parts in their components section.
