hey, im josh, im a grad student in the architecture program, so if anyone
wants to use some of the equipment here at the architecture building, give
me a call [646.379.4059] and we'll work it out, using it will all be sort of
clandestine since [as i just found out] alot of this stuff is unfortunately
restricted to arch. students [its typical of the school of architecture to
isolate itself so much], but i am at the arch school all the time working in
my studio, so i dont mind helping out anyone anytime

http://soa.utexas.edu/it/digifab - list and description of expensive digital
fabrication machines in the arch school

2 laser cutters [basement of goldsmith hall] - restricted by password to
arch students, im going to film my project so youll get to see how this
works, but if you want to use it i just need to be in the room with you, i
can show you how it works and all, its pretty simple, it reads AutoCAD
files, i can show you that too

3d printer [basement of sutton hall] - makes a plasticy-substanced form from
3d-modelling programs, dont know its hacking potential, theres currently an
exhibition showing some sweet 3d models made with it in the arch. exhibition
hall in goldsmith [walk in front door in front of west mall fountain, walk
straight, it will be on your right on main floor]

3d scanner [basement of sutton] - not operational yet, scans physical
objects into 3d modelling programs

CNC Router [basement of sutton, in wood shop] - huge expensive computer
controlled wood/aluminum/foam router, this is a sweet machine, but i have no
clue how to use it, id love some to want to use it so i have an excuse to
learn also, it reads Autocad files

we have a large wood shop, which is "officially" open for arch. students
only, but in reality anyone can go down there and use the machines, avoid
authoritative looking figures and pretend you are supposed to be there, call
me up to show you around

if anyone knows anything about getting access to other cool tools, machines,
resources on campus or elsewhere [are there any electric welders on
campus??], share the love, i enjoy knowing what is available, even
[especially] if it requires a little infiltration and sneakiness.

that reminds me, a book i love on the subject of urban exploring,
infiltration, social engineering, etc. [ie how to sneak into places where
you dont belong and act like you belong there]:
