Here are some Projects I have created for the Advanced Communications Technology Laboratory (ACTLab) at the University of Texas:
The Legion Project is my Masters Thesis Project. I am proposing a model of distributed subjectivity in cyberspace, based on Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly and more popularly known as Multiple Personality Disorder). I have created a 3D VRML world, which makes this notion explicit through the use of special avatars, which are like small gangs or swarms.
Pirate Utopias was featured in Hotwired. It is a Web-delivered, animated hyperdocument, dealing with correspondences between the Buccaneer enclaves of the 17th and 18th centuries and contemporary Hacker culture. I draw my inspiration for this from the writings of Hakim Bey. Requires the Shockwave plugin.
Flaneurismo! is a Franco-Spanglish neologism for an agent who can stroll though a virtual city, which changes as a function of how certain control values are set up for the agent. Some of the modules do not function properly, but the control panel for Flaneurismo! setup is fun, as is the Teleport. Requires the Shockwave plugin. WARNING- large files to download.
